Money Ready

The money skills school skips.

A 50-question diagnostic shows exactly where you stand across five money skills. Then 18 real-world missions, like getting your first paycheck or renting your first apartment, close the gaps.

Made for anyone 13 and up who wants to get good with money, and built to fit North Carolina's Economics and Personal Finance course for classrooms.

How it works

1. Diagnose

50 questions across banking, credit, investing, taxes and planning. Each student gets a score and a level in every skill: Unaware, Aware, Capable or Fluent.

2. Do missions

Short, real-world missions matched to each student's weakest skills. Every mission ends with a check, and students need 70% to move on.

3. Level up

XP, streaks, badges and ten levels from Money Rookie to Financially Fluent. Every level-up names the real skill the student just gained.

Missions a 16-year-old actually cares about

Mission 1

Get Your First Paycheck

After this mission, you can read a pay stub, understand what was taken out for taxes, and get your money into a bank account safely.

Mission 4

Get a Credit Card Without Getting Wrecked

After this mission, you can use a credit card responsibly and understand why paying the minimum is expensive.

Mission 7

Make Your Money Grow

After this mission, you can open a brokerage account and start investing a small amount of money regularly.

Mission 10

File Your First Tax Return

After this mission, you can gather the right documents and file a simple tax return (or know when to get help).

Mission 11

Rent Your First Place

After this mission, you can evaluate whether you can afford an apartment and what landlords will look for.

Mission 13

Start Saving for Retirement (Even as a Teen)

After this mission, you can open a Roth IRA (if you have earned income) and make your first contribution.

A measurable finish line

A student is financially literate when they reach Fluent in all five skills on the diagnostic and earn Level 10, Financially Fluent. Teachers and schools see real before-and-after results, not just completion.

For teachers

  • Class averages per skill, and how they changed since the last diagnostic
  • Which students have gone quiet for a week, and who is stuck
  • Mission unlocks you can override for any student
  • Parent progress emails, sent only with consent
  • Minimal student data: first name and last initial, never financial information
  • Works on school Chromebooks. Students sign in with their school Google account.
